Welcome to Fresh Avs! I am so pleased you decided to stop by. I started this blog with the intent to encourage people to have a healthy relationship with food. To all my foodies, I know, the struggle is real. We love food, all food, we don’t discriminate. But let’s be real, we’re not getting any younger, so we need to be conscious about making healthier choices to look and feel great! We can indulge in a special treat on the weekend (and even during the week) and still find a way to incorporate fresh and healthy ingredients in a long term sustainable everyday routine. We really can have it all with balance!

What will you find on Fresh Avs?
Here you will find an array of delicious dishes that are easy and healthy to make! Healthy is not boring! Although, I do not fall under any specific diet, you will find recipes that are gluten-free, vegan, paleo, keto and dairy-free. I love to experiment and get creative in the kitchen. I also really enjoy tasting the beautiful cultural foods from around the world so I will definitely post those dishes as well! Enjoy!
I was fortunate to grow up with two parents who both knew how to cook. While my mom cooked delicious cultural dishes, my dad has always been adventurous with food. He would explore the different cultures so my two sisters and I could be exposed to the many different cuisines from around the world. There would be days my family would eat a traditional meal with rice and curry and then there were days we would see a cow’s tongue on my kitchen counter! However, now I get to travel around the world and continue to be curious and adventurous with food!
I attended Ryerson University where I obtained a BASc in Nutrition and Food. I decided to take a few basic culinary courses at George Brown College and found myself with a diploma in Nutrition Management. Still hungry for more, I enrolled in the Academy of Culinary Nutrition and I’m now a Culinary Nutrition Expert and Certified Instructor! Can’t wait to share what I have learned with you!
My Work Experience:
I have been working in Long-Term Care Homes as a Nutrition Manager for more than 5+ years and I love it! I have worked with residents from many different cultural backgrounds which has allowed me to get creative with the menu to accommodate the different cuisines. Although it can be challenging to work with individual diets and therapeutic interventions, we do our best to provide happier, healthier and more fulfilling life experiences for our residents every day.
